MexCrafts

Guerrero State

MexCrafts is an enterprise established in 1997 by two brothers from Acapulco, located in the State of Guerrero, Mexico. In order to show the wide variety of the state's arts and crafts, they had the idea of taking advantage of trade globalization through the Internet. People living in towns close to Acapulco, the biggest city in the state, create these handicrafts, and usually the craftsmen from each town are specialized in a certain kind of handicraft, considering the raw materials available in the surrounding area.

Small manufacturing workshops are formed by whole families, and the sale of their products represents their main source of income, sometimes true even for an entire community. Generally, their handicrafts are commercialized in markets established in the main tourist centers of Guerrero such as Acapulco, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and Taxco, and are highly appreciated by both domestic and international tourists.

The State of Guerrero is considered to be one of the poorest in Mexico, therefore it is understandable that these craftsmen do not have all the economic resources necessary to let the world know of their fine products. MexCrafts' main interest is to be the means to achieve this goal. The company's advantage is that these handicrafts go practically from the manufacturer directly to the consumeršs hands at almost the same price as they are sold in a local market.

MexCrafts believes that through the participation of enterprises like this one, that they are contributing in their own way to the Statešs development.
